Who We Are
Our Vision
We imagine a world where everyone benefits from electric technologies powered by clean energy, positively transforming communities and bringing new opportunities for training, jobs, and economic growth. This vision drives us towards a renewed, recharged economy that works for us all.
Our Mission
Recharge America helps strengthen communities by deploying philanthropic resources to work with local leaders, businesses, schools, and energy and transportation groups in support of initiatives that foster a home-grown clean energy future.
Helping Communities Thrive By Implementing New Clean Energy Initiatives
What happens when just one internal combustion engine car is replaced by an EV?
Each EV generates savings of almost $1,500 annually on fuel and $3,200 over a decade on maintenance. Those savings remain in household pocketbooks.
Meanwhile, local investments to support EV charging help bring energy dollars local, spurring greater hometown economic growth while community members collectively enjoy less air pollution from vehicles.
Recharge America Works to Make This All Happen
Recharge Goals by 2030
By emphasizing local involvement and careful listening, Recharge America crafts community engagement, economic development, electric transportation, and general electrification plans that tap into community assets to ensure that crucial work is completed.
Strengthening Communities With Clean Energy
New energy technologies are revitalizing communities by enhancing sustainability, creating jobs, and fostering economic growth while reducing environmental impact.
Renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power, energy-efficient buildings, electric vehicles (EVs), smart grids, and energy storage solutions are some of the key technologies driving the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
Communities that develop a shared vision for leveraging the opportunities brought by this transition stand to reap the greatest benefits.
Recharge America Participants — companies and other local leaders committed to sharing their stories – stand at the center of our work.
We help participants and the communities where they are located to share successes and create a stronger, cleaner and fairer future for all.

Commitment to Environmental Justice
Large-scale technology shifts in the past have often resulted in uneven and inequitable outcomes, disproportionately benefiting already-thriving areas while leaving rural, low-income, and underrepresented communities with negative environmental legacies.
Recharge America is helping communities secure opportunities afforded by the coming energy transition through:
Education:
Connections to training, retraining and upskilling programs to provide enough construction workers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, solar installers, EV mechanics, HVAC technicians, and repairers to upgrade and maintain infrastructure
Innovation:
Helping communities identify new energy innovations. As one example – to make batteries smaller and longer-lasting, devise storage techniques for holding large amounts of electricity for off-peak use, and create a cyclical economy to recover precious elements for reuse
Planning:
Electricity is Power
The power and the promise of sustainable energy generation is already in our hands: electric cars, electrified homes, electric transit options.
All powered by renewable sources like solar and wind. A smart, resilient electrical grid that manages demand and can route around problem spots. Adopting these technologies and adapting our economy will Recharge America.
